- Digital Arts Reflection -
1. I chose the medium I did because I thought that photography would best capture the idea I was going for. The photos I took showed a clear message of what my topic was. I made a point of emphasis using depth of field which can only be done using a camera.
2. I was able to get my idea across using the basic art elements and principles by using a good color scheme, I made the candies in my images colorful in order to show contrast. I had black and white backgrounds to make my images stand out even more.
3. If I were to do it again, I would have liked to take more pictures of food addiction. and perhaps glue candies to the background of my pictures, this would have been more aesthetically pleasing and eye catching to viewers.

Egypt Brochure:
We had an Egyptian lecture and then picked a piece of art to do a brochure on.
Prehistoric Drawings
We chose a prehistoric animal to practice shade pencils with, after drawing and shading one animal we went in to illustrator and traced over it five 6 more times.
Stop Motion AnimationFor this project, we were required to make a stop motion animation by taking frame by frame pictures. Then, in Flash we put all the frames together in order to create a movie.

Lighting
Photographers use several different types of lighting in order to create the desired affect they are after.
Depth of Field
Your aperture (diaphragm of the lens), controls what is in focus and what is not in focus.
Short Story Book Cover
In Humanities we wrote a short story and we were asked to make the book cover in Digital Arts. This was one of my favorite projects because I got to bring my book to life and create a picture to represent my story. This project was all about aesthetically pleasing your readers and the what they see on the cover is what makes them want to open the book or look past it. I tried to make my cover as pleasing to the eye as possible. I did this by using balance, contrast, and many other art elements.
Essential Questions
An engaging book cover requires several aspects in order to catch the eye of your reader. I think that an engaging book cover has at least one of the art elements depending on what look you are going for. It should also include a title that catches the reader to let them know the name of your book. The cover should also include an interesting picture that keeps your reader drawn in. The picture should reveal part of your story or give the reader a clue of what your book is about. In all I think a successful book cover should be balanced and not extremely busy, this will leave the reader wondering and wanting to open the book.
Art is used as a vehicle for communication by taking you somewhere else through visual art. When you look at a piece of art your mind is taken elsewhere, therefore it is a vehicle. An artist expresses feeling through art and the viewer may feel that emotion when looking at their art piece. In this way art can also be communication, in other words maybe art feels like it is speaking to you and when you make art you are speaking to others.
I think a work of art depends on the viewers point of view to some extent. It matters if it captures your viewers eye and if it is pleasing enough to look further in to it. But I believe that if you like your art work than it should not matter what other people think of it. If you are happy with your work than other opinions shouldn't make you feel differently about what you have created.

My favorite how to
My favorite "how to tutorial" was the eye color change. I thought it was a simple fun way to make a big difference in a picture. In this picture I changed a blue eye into a pink colored eye. I learned a lot in the how to tutorials but this one made the most sense to me. In a picture eyes are the first thing I look at so it was nice to know how to change the color of eyes.
Teacher Animal Project
For the Teacher Animal Project our goal was to warp or combined a teachers face with an animals face or body. In this project we incorporated our Photoshop skills. This allowed us to experiment with a lot of the tools in Photoshop. Personally, this was my favorite project this semester in Digital Arts. I enjoyed it this project because it was humorous and let us play with Photoshop, it also introduced me to a lot of new things about creating a Photo-shopped piece of art.
Name project
For the name project our goal was to take pictures of all the letters in our name. Whether we found the letters in nature, signs, or made them in Photoshop we had to complete our name and paste it on a background. We then used them to paste in the front of our sketch books. This project was really fun for me because it was my first time being introduced to Photoshop. I learned about refining edges and cropping and pasting on to a background.
